One KV Woman Says The Deer Are Not A Problem

The deer debate wages on…this time in Quispamsis. Two women speaking against the idea of a cull at tonight’s meeting.
Danielle Materniak tells CHSJ News she enjoys seeing the deer and that is comes from living in a healthy ecosystem.

She says she loves that she gets to see deer, birds and squirrels in this area that we haven’t killed off yet.

Mayor Murray Driscoll says the town will co-operate with the Department of Natural Resources’ deer management program.
That will see extra licenses come into their areas where a high of deer can be seen such as Quispamsis, Rothesay and Hampton.

He says they are asked to verify if the properties that may get an extra license lie within the boundaries of Quispamsis.

Councillor Pierre Rioux says their hands are tied when it comes to wildlife adding its a provincial matter.
He suggested to the woman who spoke that they bring up to the various political candidates that come to their doors over the next four weeks.
