Petitpas Taylor Joins Federal Cabinet As Health Minister

The MP for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe has been promoted to the federal cabinet after a shuffle by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Ginette Petitpas Taylor now has the high-profile portfolio of Minister of Health after serving as parliamentary secretary to the Finance Minister.

Petitpas Taylor is the second New Brunswicker in cabinet joining Fisheries and Oceans Minister Dominic LeBlanc.

Premier Brian Gallant is congratulating Petitpas Taylor on her new role and says he looks forward to working with the health minister in innovating and improving access to health care for New Brunswickers.

Former Health Minister Jane Philpott fills a new post as Minister of Indigenous Services.

Carolyn Bennett, formerly Indigenous and Northern Affairs minister, joins the new portfolio of Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs.

New faces include Carla Qualtrough as minister of Public Services and Procurement who takes over from Judy Foote who quit the cabinet last week.

Seamus O’Regan is the new Veterans Affairs Minister, replacing Kent Hehr, who becomes the Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities.
