New Brunswick has been enjoying a warm, sunny summer so far which means many of us are likely soaking up large quantities of Vitamin D.
But the Canadian Cancer Society is urging you to play and work safe in the sun.
Spokesperson Michelle St. Pierre says sunburns from last summer combined with sunburns from this year add up and increase damage to your skin.
“Examine your skin once in a while – it’s not something you have to do all the time. But if you do have spots on your body and they’ve been there for a long time and they never change and are always identical, they’re probably not something you need to worry about,” she notes.
But St. Pierre says if any spots or bumps change in some way or get bigger, you should be concerned and visit a doctor since it could be an early sign of melanoma.
