Police Issue Warning To Owners Of Airsoft Rifles And Pellet Guns

If you own an airsoft rifle or pellet gun that looks like an actual weapon, use common sense when carrying it in public.

Police are issuing that warning to would-be marksmen and women in the wake of the arrest of a man in Halifax, who was walking around in camo gear carrying a pellet gun.

Sergeant Jay Henderson of the Saint John Police Department tells us police are on high alert in the Maritimes and beyond after the Moncton tragedy and there’s no good reason not to have a case.

Henderson says even if you’re legitimately on your way to a shooting range you should conceal your pellet gun until you get there to avoid unduly alarming anyone, and if you’re trying to frighten people with a fake weapon and encounter police, the consequences could be deadly.
