Port City Power basketball team withdraws from 2025 season

The Port City Power has announced it won’t participate in The Basketball League’s 2025 season, which would have been its first year in the league.

The team’s president, Jamie Dobbelsteyn, announced the decision after facing financial challenges that they could not overcome.

“We believe it is in the best interest of everyone involved to pause and take more time to build something that can be sustainable, rather than risking a negative experience,” Dobbelsteyn said in a recent social media post.

The president explained all ticket holders will receive full refunds, and sponsors will be reimbursed accordingly.

Port City Power said they’re exploring new opportunities to bring professional basketball back to Saint John in a positive way.

They look forward to reuniting with their fans and sponsors soon.
