Members of the Marine Animal response Society have released their preliminary findings from the three necropsies performed on three North Atlantic right whales.
Based on the observations, they say there is reasonable suggestion of blunt trauma in two of the animals, but at this stage, they can’t rule out other underlying problems.
The third whale had a chronic entanglement, which means it may have been tangled in fishing gear at one point.
Experts says they are doing further analysis, but a final report isn’t expected for another six to eight weeks.
Six North Atlantic right whales were found dead in the Gulf of St. Lawrence over the last month.
