Prince Edward Street Social Enterprise Hub Gaining Momentum

Plans for a Social Enterprise Hub in the Waterloo Village is a little closer to reality. The Saint John Loan Fund receiving $50,000 from an insurance company towards the project.

Seth Asimakos tells us this money will go towards the Hub’s Business Incubation Centre adding the new operation will benefit the neighbourhood and the people in it.

He says it will physically improve the look of the neighbourhood and inside their will be non-profits working towards poverty reduction.

The Social Enterprise Hub will cost 2 million dollars to build. So far they have about $800,000 and hope to raise between $200,000 and $300,000 dollars by March 31st and they plan to break ground this spring.

Meantime, the nearby Teen Resource Centre has received almost 25 thousand dollars from the 100 Women Who Care.
