President of Oulton College Darcie Robichaud says they are keeping a close eye on their enrolment, to see if students are making decisions to sign up in public institutions instead, for financial reasons, “We enrol students once a year in the fall, so it is very difficult for us to say right now if there is an increase or decrease in enrolment.”
She admits though that she has heard there are some facilities in the province that offer specialty programs, that are feeling the effects of not being included in the tuition access bursary program.
Robichaud adds, “It is really about the students opportunity to make the choice that is best for them without additional financial pressures to make a decision that is based solely on tuition. We hope that we can continue to collaborate, but there is very little communication, unfortunately at this point. But we are still willing to work with the New Brunswick government to find solutions.”
