The Trudeau Government should be doing a lot more, a lot faster to protect inland water and marine coastal areas. That’s the unanimous view of the All Party Parliamentary Committee on the Environment and Sustainable Development.
Liberal M-P Deborah Schulte chairs the committee and says the report has 36 recommendations.
The federal government has made an international commitment to conserve 17 per cent of inland water and 10 per cent of marine coastal areas by 2020. Thus far, 11 per cent of inland water and just 1 per cent of coastal marine areas have been preserved.
