Province Improves Access For Community Food Action Program

The provinces amending the rules for the Community Food Action Program to make it easier to apply for grants.

Healthy and Inclusive Communities Minister Dorothy Shephard tells CHSJ News groups can now apply all year round instead of three times a year. Shephard says the groups using this program include a food bank in Petitcodiac and the Oromocto First Nation got a grant for a cooking program for children to teach them about nutrition.

In order to be eligible for funding, the iniatives must align with program objectives of increasing food knowlege and skills, increasing access to healthy food and increasing awareness about food security.
