The Gallant Government is going to unveil the framework of a plan over the next few weeks to help lift people out of poverty.
The Premier says they don’t want people to be living in vulnerable situations, and are going to take steps to aid those who need it the most.
“We’re gonna have a Family Plan that will be released in the next couple weeks that we believe will really make strategic investments in the things that will help improve the social determinants and healthiness of New Brunswickers overall,” says Gallant.
He adds this will have a widespread impact beyond just being the right thing to do.
“It’s not just going to improve the quality of life for these people, but we actually as a government save money in the long term,” says Gallant. “Our healthcare costs, our Social Development costs and other types of expenses will go down over time if we address some of the social concerns that are there today.”
Gallant says once the framework is released, they will have discussions with stakeholders to discover the best way to move forward.
He says there will be incremental investments across the social and healthcare spectrum.
