Rain To Provide A Bit Of Relief From Dry Conditions

After a wet June in New Brunswick, July has turned out to be much drier to date and that has prompted the Department of Natural Resources to issue another province-wide ban on burning.

DNR fire prevention officer Roger Collette says the rain we’re expecting today is much needed.

He says, “It will help. Any rain at all will lower the risk for sure. A good day of rain would be best, but we’ll take what we can get. It’ll lower the hazard for a little bit.”

Collette adds this fire season has proven to be much busier than last year in New Brunswick which was quiet due to periods of wet weather.

No communities or structures are currently at-risk in the province due to forest fires.
