RCMP Seize 200,000 Contraband Cigarettes In Two Incidents In Western New Brunswick

RCMP in the western part of New Brunswick have seized 200,000 contraband cigarettes in two separate incidents over the last two weeks.

On April 28th, police seized around 50,000 cigarettes after stopping a vehicle on Highway 2 near Perth Andover.

A 60-year old man was arrested and released pending a future court appearance.

Less than a week later, police discovered another 150,000 cigarettes after a traffic stop on Highway 2 near Waterville.

In that instance, a 40-year old man was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

The RCMP believe the seizures to be unrelated but are continuing to investigate.
