The minimum wage increase in New Brunswick needs to be done in a predictable and a transparent manner, according to Jim Cormier of the Retail Council of Canada.
He says the Nova Scotia approach is the best way to do it with the minimum wage going up every year by the same percentage as the consumer price index of the year before.
Cormier says most retailers pay more than the minimum wage in order to keep staff anyway.
The minimum wage in New Brunswick will increase to $10.65 on April 1st.
