New Brunswick’s Regional Health Authorities have temporarily suspended visits to all hospitals.
In separate news releases issued on Thursday afternoon, Horizon Health Network and Vitalité Health Network stated the suspension is due to COVID-19.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic our guidelines have limited the risk of COVID-19 in our facilities. By limiting the number of people in our facilities through visitor restrictions, we are reducing the chance of COVID-19 infecting our patients, clients, staff and physicians,” Dr. John Dornan, Horizon’s interim President and CEO.
Horizon stated these measures are effective Friday, Oct. 8 and also applies to their “health care facilities”, while Vitalité said the measures begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8.
Both health authorities stated exceptions will be made for certain visitors, including a designated support person. Requirements for these individuals, including being asymptomatic, taking part in a screening and wearing a mask.

- Restigouche Hospital Centre
- Hôtel-Dieu Saint-Joseph de Saint-Quentin
- Lamèque Hospital and CHC
Horizon hospitals and health care facilities affected include:

- Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton
- Grand Manan Hospital
- Hotel-Dieu of St. Joseph in Perth-Andover
- Miramichi Regional Hospital
- Oromocto Public Hospital
- Sackville Memorial Hospital
- Saint John Regional Hospital
- Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John
- Stan Cassidy Centre For Rehabilitation in Fredericton
