Until Sunday, about 80 youth sailors some as young as 8 years old are in the Saint John for the 2017 Sail East Youth Championship Regatta.
It’s being hosted by the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club in Millidgeville.
Chair Heather McBriarty tells us hundreds of people are taking part.
She says they have coaches, parents, race officials coming from Ontario and Nova Scotia and she has about 70 volunteers from the RKYC involved as well.
McBriarty says some of the young sailors have been involved for a couple of years and they take the racing quite seriously.
Members of the Canada Games team from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are also here racing. That event begins in two weeks.
