The provincial government is investing over $6.6 million dollars into road improvements for Charlotte and York Counties.
Tourism Minister John Ames, who spoke on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, says the majority of the work, if not all of it, will be started before the provincial election in September.
“Your government understands that these are significant upgrade projects and transportation links for the people of St. Stephen. We recognize that safe, reliable, modern infrastructure is essential to economic growth.”
The work includes paving a 2.6km stretch of the Old Bay Road, from Route 170 to the Ledge Road.
Chip seal will be applied to sections of Routes 760 and 770, Board Road, Boyd Road, McAleenan Cross Road, and the Upper Tower Hill Road.
A 300 meter section of Milltown Blvd (Route 170) between Pleasant Street and the customs office will see storm sewer improvements and curb replacement, that work is under the Municipal Designated Highway Program, with the province and the Town of St. Stephen providing funding.
Minister Ames says funding for the MDHP has more than doubled since the 2014-15 fiscal year, increasing to $25 million in 2015.
