The number of deer in Rothesay has become a big concern and the town council is not happy with the province`s solution.
A deer management plan meeting was held earlier this year with several communities in the KV and the province offered two options, maintain the status quo when it comes to harvesting or allow two deer per tag in certain areas.
Mayor Nancy Grant says the two animals per tag was the option they prefered but it’s been ignored even though it was also recommended by the provincial deer biologist.
The council received a letter saying the province would allow an increase in permits from 191 to 300 so council is sending back a letter expressing disappointment in this solution and wanting to know why their choice was ignored.
