The deer population in Millidgeville is getting out of hand according to Councillor John MacKenzie and he has asked Common Council to get staff to look into ways of mitigating the problem.
MacKenzie says any increase in deer, means deer ticks and something needs to be done to stop the potential spread of Lyme disease to both people and pets.
However, Deputy Mayor Shirley McAlary went on the defensive saying she didn’t want to see people running around with bows and arrows killing deer.
The comments prompted Mayor Don Darling to issue a point of order saying the motion was for staff to look into the situation, not order a mass cull of deer.
