Cedar Point Estates in Saint John will not be rezoned anytime soon to allow for the installation of curbs, sidewalks and stormwater infrastructure.
Common Council was looking to have it rezoned to R1 residential despite the fact the Planning Advisory Committee recommended denying the proposed amendment.
It took two hours of presentations from developers, consultants, a lawyer and one resident who had been there for 26 years along with council debate before the motion was defeated.
Afterwards Mayor Don Darling said he wants any future home buyers for remaining phases of the subdivision to be made aware that such amenities are not being paid for by the developer.
Council brought forth the motion after getting a number of complaints from residents about the lack of such services.
