Saint John Educator Named One Of Canada’s Outstanding Principals

The Learning Partnership has named 40 educators across the country as Canada’s Outstanding Principals and a Saint John principal made the list.

Principal at Seawood Elementary Matthew Bedard was one of three New Brunswickers named to the list.

Bedard was nominated by fellow staff members at Seawood Elementary and calls it “flattering”, that his co-workers thought he was worthy of the acknowledgement.

Canada’s Outstanding Principals awards gala will be held in Toronto on February 28th.

Bedard will also attend a leadership conference at the University of Toronto while he’s there.

He says his favourite part about being a principal is getting to know so many people and helping, and watching young people grow.

Bedard is in his ninth year as principal Seawood Elementary School.

The other two New Brunswick teachers include Nancy Matthews of Riverview Middle School and Wayne Annis from Keswick Valley Memorial School, in Burtts Corner.
