Another Hit For Cherry Brook Zoo

The Cherry Brook Zoo could suffer a major financial blow when Common Council meets on Monday night.

The community grants committee is recommending city council reduce funding to the Cherry Brook Zoo from $50,000 to $10,000.

Council will vote on the recommendation at its meeting.

Roughly $180,000 was allocated in the city’s operating budget for community grants this year, but the community grants committee would like that total dropped to just under $130,000.

The community grants committee is hoping the remaining $50,000 will be held in a reserve fund so other community groups can apply for funding before May 1st.
