Saint John High School students had a chance to hear first hand the consequences of making bad choices when in a vehicle when sole crash survivor John Westhaver, formerly of St. Stephen, presented his Zero Fatalities Tour.
Westhaver received burns to 75 percent of his body and three of his friends died in a roll-over crash near Andersonville in 1994. You could hear a pin drop in the auditorium as Westhaver talked and used pictures to show went he had gone through.
Afterwards Principal Lori Wall said the talk was very well received by the students and she hopes they got the message.Wall says with the visuals that Westerhaver uses, the students are compelled to think about the consequences.
Westhaver has given his talk more than 600 times and Wall says they have been trying to get him to Saint John High School for more than a year.
