Saint John Police Force Continuing To Embrace Technology

From Crimemapping.com and Twitter to YouTube updates and a new program asking business and homeowners to register their surveillance cameras, technology is becoming a bigger and bigger part of the Saint John Police Department’s intelligence-led policing model.

Police Chief Bill Reid tells us they’re trying different strategies to keep the community informed and get people engaged in preventing crime. Reid says it’s clear that people are interested in staying up to date with what law enforcement are doing based on the response to the SJPD’s online presence

He says we’ve seen a decrease in crime every year since 2009 when the Saint John Police started using the intelligence-based policing model.
