Saint Johners Report Greater Satisfaction With Crime Rates And Policing Levels

Saint Johners are feeling safer than in years past, and more optimistic about crime reduction in their neighbourhoods, according to a new Ipsos Reid survey commissioned by the Saint John Police Force.

Heather Schuve of Ipsos Reid tells us they called 400 citizens from all areas of the city and asked them questions about everything from how safe they feel in their homes at night to their perceptions about crime trends.

Shuve says the results of the community survey suggest residents are pleased with the level of service that they’re getting from the Saint John Police and improvements have been noted over the last three years.

In the meantime, a Corporate Research Associates poll of a similar sample size found that 64% of Saint Johners are satisfied with the performance of the municipal government, although that’s down from a 68% satisfaction rate three months ago.
