A Saint John company has made an appearance on the Dragons ‘Den and the episode is airing tonight.
“It was so nerve-wracking,” Tracy Bell of Millenia Tea tells CHSJ News.
“You walk out, I think there were nine cameras on us, you have to stand in your place the lights are bright and then there are six dragon investors. They have the potential to change the direction of your business.”
Tracy Bell and her husband, Rory, make tea differently by picking, washing and freezing the leaves within hours of being harvested to retain as many of the anti-oxidents as possible. It was a cancer scare in the family that prompted this new way to produce tea.
“People, you know, they’re confused at first and then once they get it, once you get it, it’s really really exciting,” says Bell.
Millennia Tea was named the best new product for innovation at the World Tea Expo, the largest tea event in the world for high end teas last June.
The episode airs this evening at 9pm Atlantic time on CBC.
