Seven People Displaced After Burst Water Pipe

A burst water pipe forced seven people from their homes in Saint John over the weekend, according to fire officials.

Fire crews were called to a three-unit building on Hazen Street around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Josh Hennessy, a platoon chief with the Saint John Fire Department, said the affected units were deemed untenable for the time being.

Hennessy said two units in the building were occupied at the time while a third unit was vacant.

The Canadian Red Cross said it is helping a couple and four children from one of the units.
