Charlotte County is becoming known for sharp-shooting as three teens come home with bling from the Canada Winter Games in British Columbia.
Emily Dean and Delayne Donahue, both of St. Stephen, were the first to win medals for Team NB, silvers in Air Rifle.
Dean says it was an honor to represent her province. “We well-deserved this. This was such an amazing experience for all of us to achieve. I am so proud to be on this team.”
Scott Ring from St. George brought home the gold in Air Pistol. He says he is still coming to terms with it, “I’m probably the most excited person ever. I still can’t believe it. It’s a huge accomplishment.”
Tonisha Noddin, who also shoots Air Pistol, did not place in the top three, but says competing was incredible. “The Canada Games were my first real huge competition. I made lots of friends, but it was kinda scary because I’m used to having my Dad with me. He’s my coach, and he wasn’t there, he tells me what to focus on and that was hard.”
Team New Brunswick won a total of 13 medals, as well as the Centennial Cup which is given to the most improved team between Games.
This is the first time New Brunswick has ever been given that designation.
