Special Olympics Team NB Heading To Newfoundland

New Brunswick’s Special Olympics Team is headed to Newfoundland for seven days, to compete.

The 2016 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games is being held there next month.

31 athletes and 15 coaches from Team New Brunswick will travel there in February.

Team Manager Josh Astle says 16 of them are from Moncton and Saint John.

They’ll compete in five sports, floor hockey, curling, speed skating, figure skating and snowshoeing.

The youngest athlete this year is 18, and the oldest is in their 50’s, and they’ll be in Newfoundland for seven days.

At least one of the athletes will be chosen to represent Team Canada at the Special Olympics World Winter Games being held in Austria this year.
