St. Stephen Town Council keeping their promise to hold the tax rate once again. Mayor Allan McEachern proud to announce on social media that the property tax rate will hold steady at $1.58 per $100 of assessed property value , for the fifth year in a row. Utilities are also remaining steady, with the water and sewer rate staying at $103.20 per unit per quarterly billing up to 500 cubic feet. McEachern says there are a number of opportunities for federal and provincial funding for upgrades to aging infrastructure, and they will be taking advantage. Meantime, the Town of St. George has good news and bad news. Town Council is raising the property tax rate to $1.38 per $100 of assessed property value, which is an increase of 4.5 cents. Water and sewer rates are going up $5 each, for a total of $480 a year. On a lighter note, the federal and provincial governments have approved St. George for two projects through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund. Campbell Hill and L’Etete Road will get watermain replacement and new service laterals.
