State Of Emergency Lifted

With all streets in the Southern Peninsula returned to a stable state, the State of Local Emergency for the area has been lifted. That also means the parking ban in the Southern Peninsula has been lifted. Vehicles can now park on-street, where parking is permitted.

Snow removal crews are now working in the Waterloo Village area. Jeff Hussey of Transportation and Environment Services for the city says that cleanup should take a few days and then it’s on to the old North End and lower west side after that.

Big snow blowers will be used out east and on the rest of the west side to get rid of the big snowbanks that are making it treacherous for drivers to make their way on to thye busier streets.

No parking signs have been installed on certain streets in the Waterloo Village area and and will be put up on a street-by-street basis as snow removal operations progress. Anyone parked in a no-parking zone will be towed.

Truck traffic will remain heavy in the Waterloo Village area this week. Hussey estimates it will take a couple of weeks before the city is caught up.
