Talk Of Border Tax Sparks Fears

Canada may not be immune to a border tax that would be imposed by the Trump administration.

What such a tax would apply to is hard to say because the new administration hasn’t taken over yet.

Most of the exports from New Brunswick go to the U.S but Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau says 35 American states benefit through trade with Canada so any sort of border tax would turn out to be a double edged sword.

Sean Spicer, who’s going to be Donald Trump’s Press Secretary, says a border tax will apply when a company that had been in the U.S. moves to another country thereby placing American workers at a disadvantage.
