Teen Falls From Overpass In Oromocto: RCMP

A teen has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries after falling from an overpass in Oromocto.

Mounties were called to a report of a teen in mental distress on the Route 2 overpass on Waasis Road on Monday evening.

“During the response, the teen climbed over the overpass railing. A member attempted to hold onto the teen but was unsuccessful, and the teen fell onto the highway below,” RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.

The officer administered first aid until paramedics arrived at the scene. The teen was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Mounties have asked the Serious Incident Response Team to review their response to the incident.

“The RCMP is committed to accountability and transparency to the communities we serve,” Cpl. Hans Ouellette said in the release.

“Due to the seriousness of this incident, we have requested SIRT review our actions to ensure we did everything we could in our response.”
