The Province Continues To Speak With The Association of Private Colleges and Universities

It appears the government is willing to bend a little when it comes to private universities and colleges.

The New Brunswick Association of Private Colleges and Universities plans to sue the province because they are not included in TAB as its reserved forpublicly-funded colleges anduniversities.

Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arsenault says part of the issue with the private schools is outdated legislation.

He says the Private Occupational Training Act which they fall under is very old and has not been updated and in other provinces like Ontario and Nova Scotia the act is more modern.

Arsenault says he has met with them already and is willing to have more discussions on this. He says he has told them they can’t be included in TAB but they are part of the discussion.
