Tom McGraw of the Amalgamated Transit Union says Saint John Transit is dealing with a budget overun of nearly $400,000 so September’s cuts are no surprise.
Service will be cut to Red Head along with some evening service to West side routes.
McGraw expects riders will be upset adding Red Head has had transit service for more than 30 years but it wouldn’t be considered a well-used route.
He says for the person who depends on the bus the ridership numbers don’t mean too much.
In announcing the cuts coming on September 11th, Saint John Transit also said they would be cancelling service on New Year’s Day and Boxing Day.
