Transport Action Atlantic will hold its annual general meeting in Moncton tomorrow.
Member Ted Bartlett feels they’re making some headway across the country when it comes to transportation issues, “We have a sense that we are starting to get some traction, because there seems to be a wind of change both on the ground and on the higher levels. The change of government in Ottawa last fall, I think is partially responsible for that.”
He says, “For several generations, we’ve been putting too many of our eggs in one basket supporting certain modes of transportation at the expense of others and not necessarily proceeding in the most economical and sustainable way.”
Bartlett says their meeting gets underway at 2pm tomorrow afternoon at the Moncton Public Library.
They’ll also host a panel discussion with audience participation, beginning at 3pm
Confirmed participants include provincial Transportation Minister Roger Melanson; New Brunswick Green Party Leader David Coon; Yves Bourgeois, director of the Institute for Urban and Community Studies at UNB; political commentator and business consultant Bill Belliveau; and strategic planning consultant Chuck Steeves.
