Tuesday Morning Sports for July 26th

The Chicago Cubs made a big trade in landing reliever Aroldis Chapman from the New York Yankees in a five player deal……The Cubs bullpen was ranked 14th in the majors before the trade.

In the Majors, Jose Iglesias hit a two run homer and Justin Verlander pitched six solid innings in Detroit’s 4-2 win over the Boston Red Sox ……Aaron Sanchez pitched seven shutout innings to win his 10th straight decision, 4-2 over San Diego……The Yankees got by Houston 2-1. Baltimore took advantage of the Red Sox loss with a 3-2 win over Colorado in 10 innings……Elsewhere, it was Philadelphia 4 Miami 0….Milwaukee 7 Arizona 2….Texas 7 Oakland 6…..Chicago White Sox 5 Chicago Cubs 4…..Los Angeles Angels 6 Kansas City 2 and Cincinnati 7 San Francisco 5.

Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale has apologized for his part in a dispute over the team’s throwback uniforms last Saturday which resulted in him being suspended. Sale got into a confrontation with the front office over having to wear the 1976 navy, collared throwbacks the White Sox wore in 1976.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been reinstated from his indefinite suspension for multiple drug violations. He will be suspended for the first four games of the regular season but will be allowed to attend training camp.
