Two women were rescued by firefighters on Wednesday evening after they became stranded in the middle of the bay off Cassidy Lane in Maces Bay.

The Musquash fire department says the women were out walking when the tides rose too quickly for them to get back.

The firefighters launched their boat, pulled in the women – who were in water almost up to their shoulders – and started treating them for mild hypothermia. Once ashore, paramedics took over the treatment.
