Unemployment Rate Drops In New Brunswick

After getting hammered over inflated property tax assessments, Premier Brian Gallant has a bit of good news. The unemployment rate in New Brunswick dropped last month by half a percent to 8.4 per cent. There were 18 hundred additional jobs in the province in March, 100 of which were fulltime with the rest part time.

The unemployment rate in Saint John went down from 7.9 per cent in February to 6.7 per cent. Moncton also saw a decline from 8.2 to 8 per cent.

In the country as a whole, employment rose by 35 thousand among men aged 25 to 54, all in fulltime work. The youth unemployment rate was down slightly from March of last year at 12.8%.
