Commemorations are scheduled Sunday to mark the centennial of the battle of Vimy Ridge which has been called the birth of the nation.

Canadian soldiers seized what historian and author Pierre Berton called the best defended German bastion on the western front.

The Kennebecasis Legion, Branch #58 will be holding a public ceremony at the Cenotaph on Rothesay Common Sunday afternoon at 2:00.

According to a new Ipsos survey conducted on behalf of Historica Canada, 86% of Canadians agree as part of the Canada 150 commemorations there should be a national monument to pay tribute to our veterans and soldiers. 85 per cent agree we should be doing more to honour those who fought and those who have died in war.
