Wednesday Morning Sports For December 27th

Hall of Fame goaltender Johnny Bower who played with the Toronto Maple Leafs when they won four Stanley Cups in the 1960’s has died at the age of 93 after coming down with pneumonia.

At the World Junior Hockey Championship, Canada opened with a 4-2 win over Finland…..The Czech Republic upset Russia 5-4…..The U.S. romped over Denmark 9-0 and it was Sweden over Belarus 6-1. Tonight, Canada takes on Slovakia.

No games last night in the NHL because of the Christmas break. Lots of action tonight as Boston takes on Ottawa and Montreal plays Carolina.

In the NBA, Dallas ended another six game winning streak by Toronto with a 98-93 victory over the Raptors. Elsewhere, it was the Los Angeles Clippers 122 Sacramento 95….Denver 107 UJtah 83…..Phoenix 99 Memphis 97…..San Antonio 109 Brooklyn 97…..Chicago 115 Milwaukee 106….Miami 107 Orlando 89 and Detroit 107 Indiana 83.

Longtime Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison who was recently cut has signed with the New England Patriots.
