Wednesday Morning Sports For May 24th

The Saint John Sea Dogs have made it to the semifinals at the Memorial Cup following a 7-0 victory over Seattle. Joe Veleno led the Sea Dogs with two goals and one assist while Bokondji Imama added a goal and two assists. Chase Stewart, Mathieu Joseph, Spencer Smallman and Cole Reginato also scored while Callum Booth made 31 saves for the shutout.

In the Stanley Cup playoffs, Craig Anderson made 45 saves and former Sea Dog Mike Hoffman scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period as Ottawa gets by Pittsburgh 2-1 to force a decisive Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Final.

In the Majors, Xander Bogaerts had three R-B-I’s and twice scored on wild pitches while Dustin Pedroia had a two run double as the Boston Red Sox beat Texas 11-6……The Blue Jays got a two run homer from Kendrys Morales and hung one for a 4-3 win over Milwaukee…..Kansas City beat the New York Yankees 6-2 on the strength of 4 homers. In the NBA playoffs, Kyrie Irving scored 42 points with LeBron James adding 34 as Cleveland rallied to beat the Boston Celtics 112-99 and take a 3 games to 1 lead in the Eastern final.

The New England Patriots and Rob Gronkowski have restructured his contract giving him a chance to become the highest paid tight end in the NFL at over $10 million.
