Westjet To Create 400 Bilingual Jobs In Metro Moncton

Westjet is opening a call centre in Metro Moncton to help enhance its French service and is creating more than 400 mostly home-based jobs in the region.

The Gallant government is giving the airline a $1 million forgivable loan and up to $2.5 million in payroll rebates once each job is created.

Westjet spokesman Mark Porter says the company chose Moncton due to its bilingual workforce and is now hiring for the positions.

“These agents will be bilingual and will take calls in both English and French. (Calls will come from) people who want to book flights, vacation packages, make a change to their reservations, or have questions about the services and products that we provide at Westjet,” he notes.

Porter expects the new Westjet call centre will be open by September and employees will be hired over the next four years with two-thirds of the jobs being full-time.
