Saint John Energy is reporting net income of $1.3 million for 2016, calling it a very successful year in its annual report.
It also reports the frequency and length of power outages were significantly below the national averages. Saint John Energy points out residential electricity rates in the city were 10 per cent lower than elsewhere in the province and commercial rates were 3 per cent lower.
All of the transformers that contained P-C-B’s have now been replaced and 16 hundred heat pumps had been rented from Saint John Energy by the end of last year. It’s expected that number will increase to 25 hundred by the end of this year.
