Douglas Garfield Bacon

September 26, 1947  –  December 23, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Douglas G. Bacon at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing on December 23, 2025. He is predeceased by his mother, Iris (Theorin) and father Everett Bacon, and survived by his loving wife Katherine (Wiggins) Bacon, cherished daughter Lisa Bacon (Reza Ebrahimi), special sister Sandra Bacon, brother William Bacon (Brenda), Beverley Bacon (Cathy), brother in law Thomas Wiggins (Shelley) and several nieces and nephews.

Doug had a huge personality, that was bigger than life. He and his devoted wife of 33 years, Katherine, shared many common interests, including nature, pets, the arts, travelling, and gardening (many hours were spent in his unique Japanese garden, complete with his beloved koi fish). They met in 1985, during the construction of York Point, and it was love at first sight. He was always hugely supportive in her endeavors, always believing in her, and providing encouragement. He will be incredibly missed.

Doug was kind and gentle in his personal life. He had much compassion for those disadvantaged, and the youth of the city, which he generously supported. He loved brook fishing (which he rarely had time for, as well as enthusiastically cheering on his favourite teams in hockey, baseball and football.

He had a brilliant mind, and loved a challenge. Always on the job by 5am, his work was his passion and his hobby, always bringing a welcomed challenge and a sense of accomplishment to his life.

Doug was born and raised in Saint John, NB attending Saint John Vocational School. He left Saint John at 16 years, old joining the Armed Forces Signal Cop in in 1964, receiving an honorable discharge. In 1968 & 1969, Doug studied electrical construction at the Saint John Institute of Technology. He furthered his electrical studies at Humber College in Ontario graduating with the highest marks ever seen in the history of that college. Doug was immediately hired by Comstock International (industrial) the world’s largest industrial construction company and by 25 years old he was General Superintendent responsible for over 250 of their employees, of various trades. He always missed Saint John and relocated back home in 1977 as superintendent for Donovan Electric. In 1979, he established Phase Electric as sole owner, alone with one truck and a tool kit. The company quickly grew to 125 full time employees, performing various large commercial, institutional and industrial projects across the Maritimes including the Miramichi Hospital, Saint John Regional Hospital, Halifax Airport, Market Square, Brunswick Square, McAllister Place, Kent, Canadian Tire, and Shannex across NB & NS. With a passion for innovation, he researched, designed and obtained two international patents for LED Lighting Systems. Below are some of Doug’s accomplishments.
