Nils Alden Svensson, 81 years old, of Grand Bay–Westfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on December 28, 2025. Born on February 29, 1944, in Hampstead, New Brunswick.
He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy before becoming a police officer in the Fredericton Police Force. After retirement he joined the Corps of Commissionaires and worked for Connor Bros.
Alden enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid bird watcher. His hobbies included whittling and wood carving. He treasured spending Saturdays collecting coins and antiques at both Loyalist City Coins and Books and the Coin Cabinet.
He truly cherished sharing stories with his friends. (Ross, Doreen, Donnie, Joanne, George, Mark, Mike, Jimmy, Ken, Byron, Steve, Krista and Sheldon) above all, he deeply loved his family and treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.
Alden is survived by his four children, Sarah (spouse Wade), Victor, Bridget, and Patrick (spouse Kristina), and his beloved grandchildren Lily, Piersson, Arno, and Hannah, all of whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Svensson and brother Dr. Eric C. Svensson.
At Alden’s request, there will be no funeral or visitation. Alden’s life will be silently remembered by family and friends, and his love, kindness, and devotion to those closest to him will be forever cherished.
