Peter Douglas Olive

October 27, 1955  –  December 28, 2025

It is with shattered hearts that the family of Peter Douglas Olive announce his sudden passing, which occurred unexpectedly on December 28, 2025.

Pete was loved by all who knew him. His kindness was unmatched. He was thoughtful beyond measure and always had everyone’s best interest at heart. He would show up out of the blue with the most random treasures he found because they reminded him of you. He would do anything he could to help if you needed it and was the first one to show up for the people he loved.

Pete had the best sense of humour and left everyone in stitches after every encounter. Whether it was his witty puns or his corny dad jokes, no one could make you laugh like Pete.

Pete was a West-Sider to his core. He was a well-respected, faithful brother of ILA Local 273 and was so proud of the work he did with The Port. He worked hard to provide stability and structure to the people who depended on him and did it all with a happy heart.

Pete loved his family deeply and they loved him back just as much. He is survived by his only daughter, Alanna Meyer, and only grandson, Ethan Meyer, who were the absolute lights of his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Jamie Olive (Heather) and David Olive (Dianne), whose brotherly bond was a delight to behold for anyone who was lucky enough to witness it. He leaves behind nieces, Shawna Machum (Andrew) and Jenna Olive (Tyler), nephews,Tommy Olive (Mel) and Andrew Olive (Carole-Anne), and great niece, Blake Machum, and nephews, Cooper and Baby Boy Machum, who he loved dearly. He also shared a very special bond with his “chosen daughter” Aimee Merritt (Max), or “Aimer” as he affectionately called her, his “bonus grandson”, Fin, as well as countless friends.

Pete was predeceased by his mother, Carol Olive, his father, Ralph Olive, his step-father, Jimmy Orr (Papa Jimmy), and his beloved life partner, Jennie Matheson and his sister Christine (Chrissy) who all no doubt welcomed him home with open arms.

The loss left by Pete’s passing is profound. The light that he shone was so bright and he will be eternally missed.
