Bruce McLean Campbell

May 7, 1947  –  April 19, 2026

It is with great sadness that the wife and family of Bruce McLean Campbell announce his unexpected passing. Bruce leaves behind a lifetime of stories, accomplishments, and connections that shaped the man he was. He was predeceased by his parents, Melda and Norman Campbell; his brother, Buster; his sister, Marlene; and his brother-in-law, Paul.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Wanda, with whom he shared many happy years of camping, travelling, and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. He leaves behind his children: Dwayne (Rebecca), Michael (Linda), Norman (Tammy), Tammy (Paul), Malcolm (Carolyn), and Melissa (Ryan); as well as his step-children, Angela Judith Dunham and Candace Dawn Slattery. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan McDermott (Frank) and Shirley; nieces: Stacey, Lisa, Heather, Nancy, and Amanda; and nephews, Dave and Doug. Bruce was proud to be “Grampy” to his grandchildren: Sarah, Emily, Tarah, Athena, Nicholas, Brianna, Julia, Evan, Connor, Alex, Jacob, Jaxon, and Kaidyn.

Bruce worked over 15 years as a fireman, serving his community with steady commitment and a willingness to step in wherever he was needed. He was deeply involved in his community in many ways- coaching hockey for his children when they were young, leading Cubs and Scouts, and always being ready with advice.

A man of many passions, Bruce was an avid bass fisherman who organized and participated in tournaments for years. He owned several boats throughout his life, each one tied to memories of early mornings on the water and friendly competition.

He was a great cook and baker, known especially for his Christmas fish chowder that family and friends eagerly anticipated each year. Bruce loved travelling- whether it was cruises or his winters spent snowbirding in Florida with his friend, Chuck.

Bruce and Wanda enjoyed their camping seasons together, where he perfected his cooking station at the trailer and was always up for a poker and crib tournament. He took pride in attending his grandsons’ hockey games and celebrating their accomplishments.

Bruce was immensely proud of his children and the family- he devoted his life to building a close family. He gifted each of them resilience and strength, qualities that have helped forge the deep connection they share today. His presence will be missed, and the memories he leaves behind will be cherished by all who knew him. We love you and will miss you always.

As per Bruce’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
