Karen McKillop

April 24, 1974 ~ April 26, 2026 (age 52)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Karen McKillop who passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, after the strongest battle with cancer at the age of 52.

Karen was a strong and accomplished woman whose determination and resilience were evident in all aspects of her life. She built a successful career working for the federal government, where her dedication and work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and peers.

Beyond her professional life, Karen had a passion for acting and proudly appeared in a number of local films including the Pugilist, and various others – an experience that brought her great joy and allowed her creativity to shine. She had a vibrant spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to laugh. Her friends meant the world to her, and she cherished the many memories they created together. She posed for many artists and appeared in several paintings and pictures. She began working at Arby’s at the age of 15 before moving on to the Sherrif’s Department for Court Services and Prisoner Transportation.

Karen was predeceased by her beloved father Royden Paul McKillop. She leaves behind her loving mother Judy Gilker (Mac Gilker), her brother Craig McKillop (Tanya Babineau-McKillop), her cherished niece Amanda McKillop, nephews Austin, Bradley and Tanner McKillop and great-niece Carrissa McKillop, all of whom will miss her deeply; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will also be lovingly remembered by her treasured fur baby, Evie, who brought her immense comfort and companionship.

Karen will be lovingly remembered by her close friends Sarah Duff, Donalda Gregory, Darcy LeBlanc, Keisha Frauley, Kelly Smith, and Amanda McKillop who stood by her side from the beginning of her illness to the very end.

Karen will be remembered for her strength, her accomplishments, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. Her presence will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Karen’s wishes were to have a celebration of her life with Family and Friends which will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2026 at 2pm at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the SPCA, IWK, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
