Mark your calendars! Sunday, June 7, the annual kid-friendly Rockwood Park Fishing Derby is back at Fisher Lake (by the A‑Frame) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The City of Saint John is proud to partner once again with Rockwood Park and the Kiwanis Club of Saint John to host this much‑loved community tradition.
As part of Fish NB Days, no fishing licence is required for anyone participating. It’s the perfect chance for families to enjoy a fun, relaxed morning on the water.
🎣 Event Highlights
- Catch and release — great for beginners and experienced young anglers
- Prizes for the largest fish in different age groups
- Free event with fishing instruction, bait, and light refreshments
Each year, the derby brings together approximately 150 children and their families for a welcoming outdoor experience that celebrates community, nature, and the joy of fishing.
🌞 Make a Day of It at Fisher Lakes
After the derby wraps up at noon, families are invited to stay in the park and enjoy the City’s Passport to Parks event taking place that afternoon at Fisher Lakes. It’s a perfect way to extend the fun with more free, family‑friendly activities right in the same beautiful location.
